Mother-in-Law

Tuesday, June 15th, 2010

My mother-in-law hates costume jewelry and so is very difficult to buy for when it comes to that sort of thing. She is normally bought pearls, gold or diamonds if people buy jewelry for her and of course, she is very happy with that. I do remember once when someone bought her some CZ Earrings. Her face was a picture and she had to be gracious and pretend that she really liked cubic zirconia jewelry because she is polite but she passed them on to me. That was great because I do like them and I actually wear them a lot, in fact I tend to wear them when I see her so that she knows that at least I am getting some use out of them, even if she is not. I just have to remember somehow find a way of telling the person who bought her the earrings that she should not do it again as it seems unfair if she things that the gift was liked and may try to buy something similar in future. Perhaps the fact that she will never see her wearing them will be enough of a hint for her, I hope so as I do not really want to be the one to break the news.

Losing Weight

Friday, June 4th, 2010

I think that I have discovered the best way to lose weight. I know quite a few people who want to lose, weight and I tell them about it but they do not seem interested in trying it. What I do is to eat really, healthily – that is to have 3 main meals containing a quarter low fat protein a quarter wholegrain carbohydrate and a quarter fruit or vegetables. Then I have 3 snacks in between of fruit or small quantities of cereal. I keep my portion sizes very small and so only have between 1500 and 2000 calories a day. I have also looked in to how to burn fat and I walk 4 miles a day, cycle for 30 -60 minutes a day and sometimes go for a 30 minute jog as well. I also do toning exercises. I feel that this is healthy weight loss as I am not depriving my body of nutrients and am keeping very fit at the same time. The problem with it is that it has to be done for life, not just a diet which is done for a short term. This means that people do not like it as they want something which will work quickly and then mean they can go back to their old ways, but that will never work.

The Health Benefits of Golf

Friday, June 4th, 2010

Bringing nuts along with you to the golf course has been a tradition for many people for a lot of years, but snacking through eighteen holes of stress relief isn’t the only perk of being out there on the course.

There are many benefits of going out there once or twice a month just to take some quiet time for yourself to get away from all the stress that encompasses your life. For starters, as you are sticking a piece of delicious dried papaya in your mouth, you are constantly walking throughout the four to five hours it takes to play eighteen holes. This means that you are walking around 5 miles if you are a fairly good golfer who can find his ball almost every time.

You will also get a lot of sun that can keep your bones stronger since you will absorb a lot of vitamin D that day. Looking at all the lush green grass around you will also be good for the eyes if you stare at a computer or television screen for hours at a time everyday. Picking up golf will be a great decision that helps your health and relieves your stress. So you better find a place that sells wholesale nuts so you can stock up.
