My children have got this new fantastic game that they play – at least they think that it is fantastic anyway. They cycle on their kettler tricycles round and round my rotary washing line chasing each other. It sounds pretty harmless and hearing them giggling away makes you think that it is fine. However, I had my washing on there the other day and noticed that they were pulling on it as they were going round. I was not to happy to see my daughter tugging at my Spanx underwear and my son at my Wacoal bras.

I went out and asked them not to but they continued to do it when they thought that I was not watching and so I am afraid that I am going to have to stop them playing the game altogether. It seems a shame to do that but I cannot afford to have my underwear ruined just so that they can have a bit of fun! I guess they will be allowed to play it when the line has no washing on it but just not when it has clothes on there. Hopefully, if I explain to them properly, they will understand and stop doing it.

How long do I let it dry for and wipe the excess off?

When I do an artist’s-oil & turpentine wash (for tanks), I usually let it dry no more that a 5 minutes before rubbing off the excess with a Q-tip dipped in turpentine.

When I do an india-ink and alcohol wash (for aircraft), I do the wiping off almost instantly.

Buying RC Trucks

When it comes to buying RC trucks there are several things you need to keep in mind. First of all, you will want to look at the price. The price will tell you everything as far as quality, function, and more. Generally, during this time of the year you can find some affordable RC truck specials at your local stores. They are generally located in the same section as the plastic model car kits and other similar items. If you are looking for a Nitro RC car, RC truck, or plastic model then you should start shopping early. The reason why is that these are super popular gifts and they sell out really fast. So, the last thing you want to do is wait until Christmas Eve to go out shopping for RC trucks and then not be able to find any. So, focus on getting an RC truck now or as soon as possible because if you take the risk you just might not get what you are looking for. Christmas gifts are great and part of the fun is watching people open what you have bought them. Focus on buying a great gift and then you will really have fun watching.

   There are a lot of them still out there, so they aren’t yet that valuable…except for a few years , I cant think of exactly which ones right now and still they are not worth that much, if in good condition around $3.50

Starting with the 9’s, and working my way down, I first determine whether there are any obvious placements.

If I can narrow it down to 2 squares in a given box, I put my number, in very small print, in the lower left hand corner of both of the squares in that box.

If one square contains, for instance, a small 3 and a small 6, and another square in that same box also contains a small 3 and a small 6, I know that one of those boxes contains a 3, and one contains a 6. This is so obvious as to be almost silly, but it can give me clues for other placements.

When the puzzle is partially solved, I will try looking at the column or row that is the closest to completion. If it still needs a 7, and all but one of the empty squares are in boxes that already contain 7’s, I know where to put my 7.

These are a few of my techniques. When you fail to make progress with one, switch to another, and come up with some of your own.

EBAY! This kept me busy the 1st year and a half I stayed home. It was fun for awhile. You won’t make a ton of money but- a little helps and you can get rid of stuff. Read some good self help books and improve your parenting, social skills, etc. Get some audio books and listen to them as you do your chores. Do some pretend school sessions with kids, doing a theme of the week and a letter of the day- etc. Playgroups. Library. Nature walks. Shopping. Try getting creative and learn jewelry making or scrapbooking. Keep learning. Good luck

1) Rotary Cutter
2) Olfa Mat (or any other self-healing mat) 18″ x 24″ is a good size
3) Ruler- (Omnigrid is great) a 6″ x 12″ ruler is good
4) A good pair of fabric scissors to use only for cutting fabric. I use Fiskars
5) A good iron (for pressing when you are piecing)
6) Pins. Choose long, thin, sharp (dressmaker’s) pins for piecing and appliqueing. They should also be rustproof.
7) Needles - sharps and betweens for quilting and applique
Quilt frame (for hand quilting)
9) Thread. Get the best you can find. For your stash, I recommend: white, tan, or medium gray cotton or cotton-covered polyester sewing thread. Polyester threads can cut cotton fibers.
Natural or off-white cotton or cotton-covered polyester quilting thread to use for hand quilting. Clear, transparent, nylon thread for machine quilting. The thread should be thin and soft, not stiff and wiry like fishing line.
10) A 1/4 foot for your sewing machine. This makes is so much easier to do 1/4 inch seems.

Also- any books by Alex Anderson. She has a show on HGTV (or used ) called Simply Quilts. She has published books on hand quilting, piecing, etc. She is considered an expert in her field and her books are filled with easy to do projects and easy to understand instructions.

I highly recommend going to quilting classes at a local quilt shop or at a place like JoAnn’s. The teachers know what they are doing and will be happy to show you how to do it the right way. I stated off on my own and ran into problems and became very discouraged. I started taking classes and my skill levels increased and I have completed many nice quilt projects since then.
